8 Creative Ways to Decorate Your Drawers

Drawers are organizational features which help to keep a home neat and tidy. However if you use a little creativity, you will start to see that there are a number of crafty ways to dress those drawers, customizing them with your own personal artistic style.
1. Unfinished wooden drawers can give you a wealth of decorative crafty options. The wood can be painted with acrylic or spray paint, or treated with wood stain to bring out the beauty of the grain.
2. Various fabrics can be adhered to both the outside and the inside of the drawers. Paint the frame in a matching color, and then cover each drawer face in an attractive print. Use a contrasting cloth color inside as a liner to really make the piece pop.
3. Try covering a child’s drawer set in brightly colored festive wrapping paper to make the entire bin seem like a giant present.
4. Decoupage is another great way to dress up your drawers. Use attractive post cards, old maps, or pictures cut out of magazines and plaster them over the face of the drawers, using a few coats of lacquer to give them a seamless look.
5. One way to make organization decorative is to cover the surface of the drawer with decoupage images of what’s actually held inside of it. You can use cosmetic ads to label a make up drawer, or images from a garden to indicate yard supplies being held within.
6. Decorative dimensional pieces such as glass beads, rhinestones, or wooden discs can be glued along the edges of the drawers to give them a little glamour.
7. If you’re familiar with plaster of paris, you can make your own decorative motifs which can be glued o the face of the drawer as well. Just make sure that you use a strong adhesive.
8. Knobs, handles, or pulleys can all be exchanged, interchanged, painted, and enhanced with a variety of glued on accessories. Just make sure that you don’t go overboard and make the handle unusable.
